Learn how to draw using ink - all the tricks for all levels! Explore experimental, classical and expressive mark-making, creating depth, patterns, and textures. Perfect for beginners, with optional challenges for Intermediate artists.

Materials to bringPlease bring only what you have - do not buy anything new!

Organizers will provide ink & paper from The Japanese Paper Place (kudos of member, Nancy Jacobi).

• Tools: feathers, dip nib nibs with holder (Nibs: a fine and medium tip + handle for each nib), sable brushes, Sumi-e brushes..

• Ink Pens: Fountain pens, ball points, rollerball pens, gel pens, fine line markers/technical Pens in various tips + brush tip (optional brush tip: Pentel Pocket Brush Pen - a beautiful product with refillable ink cartridges, recommended for travelers).

• HB graphite pencil (for underdrawing).

• India Ink is waterproof (Black Star, Dr. Martin’s matte, Carbon ink) 
Japanese sumi-e ink is water-soluble. 
Either one can be thinned with water and is acceptable. Bring what you have!

• Paper (optional): paper you already have and want to explore, ie. good quality drawing paper, sized washi, or HP watercolour paper.
